MiReKoc was established in August 2004 as a joint-initiative grant-giving program by Koç University (Istanbul) and the Foundation for Population, Migration, and Environment (Zurich).
Today, MiReKoc is a fully functioning program which provides an institutionalized hub for Turkey-related migration research in Turkey and elsewhere. In addition to research, MiReKoc initiates a succession of conferences, workshops, meetings and seminars aimed at mobilizing academics, bureaucrats, policymakers, stakeholders and civil society organizations (CSO).
